Overview
Want to truly understand Wrocław — not just see it? Join a tour led by a professional historian and political scientist with 4 years living in the city.
Wrocław has been German, Austrian, Bohemian and Polish. It survived one of WWII's most brutal sieges and reinvented itself completely. Most tourists walk through it without realising what they're looking at. This tour changes that.
We'll explore the Rynek and medieval Town Hall, visit the historic Świdnica Cellar, pass by St. Elizabeth's Church and the fascinating Butchers' Hall, before reaching the University Quarter — the highlight of the tour, where Baroque architecture meets centuries of turbulent intellectual history.
We finish at Cathedral Island, the oldest part of the city, where gas lamps are still lit by hand each evening.
Along the way: medieval origins, the Habsburg and Prussian empires, the catastrophic Festung Breslau siege, the post-war population exchange, and Wrocław's modern transformation.
