Vienna Like A Local: Hidden Gems Free Walking Tour
Overview
This one doesn’t. Get an exclusive access to the famous Palace Auersperg (Palais Auersperg) without any other tourists.
This tour takes you into the neighbourhoods where Viennese actually eat, drink, and live. You will see baroque churches that are practically empty, Biedermeier lanes that tourists never find, and the political history that shaped modern Austria — far from any palace.
The route covers roughly 3 km on mostly flat ground, with a 15-minute break inside Palais Auersperg (entrance fees are already covered) — one of Vienna's most beautiful private palaces, where Mozart once performed.
Highlights: Spittelberg (the finest Biedermeier quarter in the city), the Piaristenkirche (frescoes by Maulbertsch, almost always empty), Justizpalast and the July Revolt of 1927, the 7th District's independent cafés and shops, and Lange Gasse at its most photogenic.
The tour is free to join. You tip your guide what the experience was worth to you at the end. Group size is capped so you can always hear your guide. Tours run daily in English, Spanish, Italian, and German. We start at Helmut-Zilk-Platz, directly behind the Albertina.
