Overview
What secrets did the Spanish capital hide between 1601 and 1606?
It won't take long to find out, because at the appointed time we will meet in the Plaza Mayor to start the free tour of the mysteries and legends of Valladolid.
The Plaza Mayor, as told by the Valladolid writer Miguel Delibes in his novel El Hereje (The Heretic), was the site of several acts of faith during the time of the Holy Inquisition. After learning some stories related to the Holy Tribunal, we will go to the monastery of San Benito el Real. Did you know that a miraculous Christ was kept inside? The next stop will be in front of Fabio Nelli's palace. What mysterious object does it hold inside?
Next, we will go to St. Paul's Square. In this esplanade is located the church of the same name and the palace of Pimentel, where Philip II was born.
We will continue our free tour of Valladolid, walking to the House-Museum of José Zorrilla, where we will learn the story of an enigmatic ghost.
Finally, after an hour and a half of walking, we will conclude our free tour at the Church of Nuestra Señora la Antigua, where two fascinating stories await us to put the finishing touch.
