Saint Demetrios's church is one of the biggest and most important churches in Greece! Saint Demetrios is the patron of the city of Thessaloniki.
Through its hidden clues, we are going to discover the history of the city until its present, covering different topics from history and religion to contemporary life and art!
The tour lasts around 2 hours, and we are going to analyse the story behind its unique mosaics. We are going to the crypt where the saint, according to tradition, was killed.
We cover the ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine (explaining the difference between Roman and Byzantine), ottoman, and modern Greek periods of the church and of the city in general.
