Overview

Discover the oldest part of The Hague, where winding streets have inspired artists and poets for centuries. From the golden age, inventors and poets, painters like Van Gogh and his colleagues, politicians, and royalty, up until the people that currently breathe life into this area. This tour takes you beyond the landmarks to explore the city’s artistic and cultural soul.

Meet me at the 'Haagse Harry' statue, and I will take you through hidden passages, show you my favorite restaurants, and paint a picture of the centuries of context that have shaped this area.

My name is Annaliese. I've grown up in the Hague as a true "Hagenees." As a person who loves to travel, eat well, and understand my surroundings in any city, it's now my turn to show you the city I love most!

On arrival

By tram:
Take trams 2, 3, 4, or 6 to the stop at Grote Markt. Exit the tram tunnel behind you, above the tunnel. You should see a large colorful statue, that is where I will be, with blonde hair and wearing a blue hat.
OR
Take tram 17 to the stop Prinsegracht. Walk toward the Grote Markt square above the tunnel. You should see a large colorful statue, that is where I will be, with blonde hair and wearing a blue hat.

By bus:
Take the 25 or 51 bus to the stop at Grote Markt. From there, walk towards the Grote Markt square. You should see a large, colorful statue above the tram tunnel. That is where I will be, with blonde hair and wearing a blue hat.

By car:
There are a few parking lots nearby, though they are a bit pricey. The closest ones are Q-park Grote Markt, Q-park City Parking, or Q-park Lutherse Burgwal. From there, walk towards the Grote Markt square. You should see a large, colorful statue above the tram tunnel. That is where I will be, with blonde hair and wearing a blue hat.

By Bike:
There are tons of places to park your bike, just make sure you park it in a legal area where it will not be taken away. In front of or next to the Albert Heijn grocery store is a good spot, or at the bottom of the slope, next to the Boterwaag. From there, walk towards the Grote Markt square. You should see a large, colorful statue above the tram tunnel. That is where I will be, with blonde hair and wearing a blue hat.
