Overview

Are you in Tarragona during the Sant Magí festivities in August and want to understand what’s going on in the city these days?

This special free tour takes you through the Part Alta to discover who Sant Magí was, why his story remains so closely tied to Tarragona, and what the traditions that take over the streets during the festival mean.

We’ll visit:
- Portal de Sant Antoni
- Rector’s Office of Rovira i Virgili University (former slaughterhouse)
- Portal del Carro
- Plaça de les Cols
- Carreró de Sant Magí
- And we’ll wrap up at Plaça del Rei, looking out toward the sea

We’ll talk about the water from the Brufaganya, the offerings to the saint, the human tower performances held on this date, and the stories and interesting facts that help you understand one of the city’s most beloved celebrations.

The idea is that by the end of the walk, you’ll see everything happening around you during Sant Magí in a whole new light—and, of course, enjoy the festivities even more!

NOTE
Approximately 80% of the content is dedicated to Sant Magí and his festival, with a few touches on Roman and medieval Tarragona. If you’re looking for Tarragona’s must-see sights, we recommend our general city tour.
