Free Tour Tarragona Historica: More than Two Thousand Years of History
Overview
The tour will continue to the Amphitheater, where we’ll learn about the entertainment of the Roman people and their gladiator fights.
The next stop will be the circus. We’ll experience a thrilling and unique show.
We’ll visit the Praetorian Tower and learn about its various uses over the past 2,000 years.
The tour will continue to a section of the Roman and medieval city walls, exploring their construction during the Roman Empire and their subsequent use by other civilizations.
We’ll head into the old town until we reach a building from the Modernist era; we’ll explore its architecture and its surprising original use. Can you guess what it was?
We’ll stand in front of the cathedral’s façade to explain its details, as well as the stories and legends from inside.
Our little journey comes to an end at the Plaza del Fórum, part of the great ancient monumental complex. You’ll say goodbye to the guide and have the chance to take photos.

On arrival
The Balcón del Mediterráneo is a seaside viewpoint located at the end of Rambla Nova Street. You can easily get there on foot since it’s in the city center. And if you’re coming by car, there’s the same underground parking garage on Rambla Nova, just 100 meters away, or blue-zone parking; there’s also another underground parking garage at Plaza de la Font, next to City Hall, about 300 meters away. I’ll be standing next to the telescope at the viewpoint, holding a blue folder.
Things to note
It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes, sun hat, water bottle and arrive 5 or 10 minutes before to confirm arrival and organize the tour.
