Overview

Discover the historic heart of Santo Domingo as you stroll through its streets steeped in history, culture, and legends! On this Free Tour, you’ll explore the Colonial City, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered the first permanent European city in the Americas.

We’ll visit some of its most iconic sites, such as Colón Park, the Primada Cathedral of the Americas, the Ozama Fortress, the Alcázar de Colón, Las Damas Street, the Panteón de la Patria, and Plaza de España. We’ll also see the exterior of the Museo de las Casas Reales.

During the tour, we’ll discover stories about Christopher Columbus, Nicolás de Ovando, Diego Colón, and other key figures from colonial history. We’ll also discuss the Taíno, Spanish, and African influences, the architecture, Dominican traditions, and some of the hidden gems tucked away in these ancient streets.

And at the end, I’ll give you recommendations for Dominican food, cafes, museums, craft shops, and special spots to continue exploring Santo Domingo.

It won’t just be a tour—it’ll be an experience that lets you get to know Santo Domingo like a local.

Come walk, discover, and enjoy the Colonial City with me!

Things to note

Welcome to Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the Americas! I’ve been a certified tour guide since 2011, and I’m passionate about my city, its history, its culture, and—above all—sharing it with people from all over the world.

On my tours, I want you to feel more like a friend discovering Santo Domingo with me than a tourist following a traditional itinerary. I’ll take you to see the must-see spots, but also those hidden corners, stories, and details that often go unnoticed.

I love chatting, recommending authentic places to eat and enjoy, and tailoring the tour to what interests you most. My goal is for you to finish the tour with great stories to tell, new experiences, and a strong desire to keep exploring the Dominican Republic.

Come discover Santo Domingo with me! I promise it won’t just be a tour—it’ll be an experience you’ll never forget.
