Overview
Every year, when Christmas comes, Santillana del Mar is adorned with hundreds of thousands of lights that frame its towers, its houses, its convents, even its collegiate church, and hang from the balconies, windows and eaves, forming cascades of light that envelop the visitor in an intimate, cozy, special and magical atmosphere at times. A magic that floats in the air and transports adults to their distant childhood, while accentuating the illusion of the little ones at this time of year.
Under this luminous mantle, which puts our emotions to the surface, we will tell you the also fascinating and surprising history of the town, in a walk in which this so luminous and special atmosphere will combine perfectly with the incredible stories that were happening over 12 centuries and that ended up building the history of Santillana del Mar, which was, in turn, essential in the evolution of the Kingdom of Castile.
If normally the anecdotes, betrayals, battles, romances and rivalries of Santillana excite you, these days, in the light of the lights, you will fall in love.
It is the magic of Christmas.

Our Guides
On arrival
Next to the doctor's office, in front of a large cobblestone parking lot (Plaza del Rey), there is a large park with trees and swings, the Campo de Revolgo.
Between the parking lot and the park, you will easily find a green kiosk. Next to it is a stone fountain with a carved goat on its front.
This will be our meeting point.
Things to note
Next to the meeting point there is plenty of parking, both in the Plaza del Rey and around the perimeter of the Revolgo Park.
