Complete Free Tour of Santiago
Overview
We’ll start at Plaza de la Inmaculada, next to the Monastery of San Martín Pinario, and walk around the cathedral, passing through Plaza de la Quintana and Platerías until we reach the iconic Plaza del Obradoiro, home to the Cathedral of Santiago, the Pazo de Raxoi, the Colegio de San Xerome, and the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos.
We’ll continue along Rúa do Franco to the Alameda, where I’ll tell you the story of Las Dos Marías. Then, we’ll discover the mysterious peepholes on Rúa Vilar and, via a narrow street, reach Rúa Nova, home to the Salón Teatro and the Church of Santa María Salomé.
On the final stretch, we’ll see the University Chapel, the Faculty of Geography and History, and the Church of San Fiz de Solovio, the oldest in Santiago. We’ll finish at the Mercado de Abastos, where we’ll explore Galician cuisine before saying goodbye.

On arrival
The meeting point will be Plaza de la Inmaculada, next to the Monastery of San Martín Pinario and across from the Azabachería façade of the Cathedral. Look for the black umbrella with our logo!
Things to note
- The maximum number of adults (ages 12 and older) per reservation that we accept for our free tour is 7. However, if there are more of you, we recommend that you contact us so we can offer you an experience that you’ll enjoy even more.
- At Ciudad Secreta, we’re pet-friendly—you’re welcome to bring your pets on the tour.
- Keep in mind that the weather in Santiago de Compostela can be very changeable, so depending on the forecast, we recommend bringing an umbrella, a rain jacket, a hat, or sunscreen, as well as comfortable shoes and a bottle of water. Don’t forget your enthusiasm for exploring the city in depth!
