Free Pilgrim Tour: The Last Kilometers of the Camino
Overview
We’ll meet at a central location in Santiago, where the guide will give a brief introduction to the history, routes, symbols, and traditions of the Camino. Afterward, we’ll travel together by public bus to Monte do Gozo.
From there, we’ll begin a guided walk of approximately 4.5 kilometers, lasting about two hours. Along the way, we’ll learn about the meaning of the scallop shell and the yellow arrow, the role of the ancient pilgrim hospitals, and some stories and rituals associated with the pilgrimage.
We’ll pass through San Marcos, the Rúa de San Pedro, and the Porta do Camiño until we reach the Cathedral of Santiago, in the Praza do Obradoiro.
At the end, we’ll take a group photo and hand out a commemorative pilgrim passport. This does not replace the official pilgrim’s credential nor does it allow you to request the Compostela.
The bus costs €1 per person, payable in cash to the guide. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, bringing water, and dressing appropriately.
