Overview
Route through the old town of Garachico, a municipality in the north of Tenerife that was buried by volcanic lava flows that descended through the area during one of the eruptions of the island.
The route begins in the main church of Garachico Santa Ana built in 1532. Then we visit the Plaza de la Libertad, a beautiful area with historic buildings, such as a hotel that was the residence of a prominent family on the island and the former Franciscan convent. We will also see the Parque de la Puerta de Tierra, the old entrance and exit door for merchandise and passengers, the beach of the municipality, the defensive castle of San Miguel, the natural pools of Caletón, formed by lava, where it is possible to bathe in the sea.
The volcanic eruption of 1706 destroyed much of the municipality, so it has been rebuilt. The church, with three naves, can be visited to contemplate the characteristics of the Canarian churches with arches, columns, roof of Mudejar roots, ... you have much more to see if you come to this charming town in the north of Tenerife
