San Salvador Free Tour: Culinary Experience
Overview
Corn, coffee, and aguardiente run through the veins of El Salvador. You’ll enjoy an interactive experience as we take you on this sensory journey to savor and experience the essence of El Salvador. On this tour, you’ll enjoy authentic Salvadoran cuisine. You’ll get to prepare the country’s traditional national dish. Do you like good coffee? Say no more—you’ll get to taste specialty Salvadoran coffee. You’ll explore the vibrant Central Market. We’ll stroll through streets brimming with mysticism, aromas, and legends.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED:
- The cost of making pupusas depends on how many you want to make: $1.25 per pupusa.
- Coffee tasting: the cost is split among tour participants; cost per brewing method: $5, which yields 2 cups of coffee.
- Snacks and seasonal fruits at the market.
- Traditional dishes and sweets.
- Personal expenses.

Our Guides
On arrival
We’ll be in front of the National Library of El Salvador (BINAES). We’ll be wearing blue-and-black shirts with the Traveling Souls Agency logo. Please provide a WhatsApp number or phone number so we can easily contact you and stay in touch.
Things to note
PLEASE NOTE:
-Wear comfortable shoes for a 2-hour 45-minute to 3-hour hike
-Bring 1 liter of water, or you can buy it at nearby stores
-Don’t forget sunscreen, and preferably bring a cap or hat
-Be eager to meet other travelers and learn about the history of San Salvador
-Don’t eat too much before the tour
How can the tour be free?
Our concept is simple — there is no set price. Instead, you tip your guide at the end of the tour whatever amount feels right to you. Typically, guests give between $10 to €50, depending on their satisfaction and budget.
Most guides accept cash or card payments, or you can do it via our app.
Cancellation policy
You are free to cancel a booking anytime. We kindly remind you to cancel bookings you cannot arrive for. Being reported as absent decreases your customer level points and the benefits you can enjoy.
