Overview
We will begin our free tour by meeting in the central park below the MUSAC clock. It is important to identify us with the "free tour red umbrella."
We start the walking tour with the contemplation of the neoclassical facade of the museum of the city, one of the iconic buildings of the city. Next to it, we will find the cathedral of San Cristobal Martir, as we will see the temple, which combines perfectly different styles, such as Mudejar and baroque style.
We continue the tour, discovering various curiosities about the history of the state of Chiapas. Its origins date back to the sixteenth century, in the case of San Cristobal, which was founded on March 31, 1528, by Diego de Mazariegos. After discovering other anecdotes, we will arrive at the church of Santo Domingo. Its façade is the best preserved in the south of the country. The next stop will be the traditional market, where we will observe the food which is harvested and consumed by the locals.
We will walk through the historic center to visit a shop-workshop where Chiapas amber is worked. Finally, we will conclude with recommendations for tasting the typical dishes and the traditional drink, the pox.
