Free Tour of the Old City of Samarkand
Overview
From there, we will walk to Registan Square, the heart of Samarkand (outside view). We will admire its three magnificent madrasahs and discover why Registan became the cultural center of the Timurid Empire.
Our next stop is the Bibi-Khanym Mosque (outside view). Named after Temur’s beloved wife, it was once one of the largest mosques in the Islamic world.
We will then continue to the Khazrati Khizr Mosque. On daytime tours, we will go inside to enjoy panoramic views of the city, while at night, you can admire its beautiful illumination.
Our final destination is the Shahi-Zinda Necropolis, near ancient Afrasiyab. We will walk through this complex of azure mausoleums from the 11th–15th centuries, decorated with intricate mosaics created by local and Iranian craftsmen.
Throughout the tour, I will share stories and legends that bring Samarkand's history to life.

On arrival
The guide will be standing at the stairs to the Gur-Emir mausoleum. Please provide your phone number so that the guide can contact you. Please do not be late. The guide will wait for you within 15 minutes after the start of the tour.
Things to note
This is a walking tour. We will visit 5 locations, of which we will go inside 3 monuments, and I will tell you about 2 monuments from the outside. During the tour, it is advisable to take with you:
1. Water
2. Sunglasses
2. Headwear to protect yourself from the sun
We will be entering mosques and holy places, so it is recommended to dress so that your shoulders and knees are covered. Or you can take extra clothes with you to put on when entering. If you do not have them, it is okay, you will be given scarves and skirts at the entrance to the mosque.
Entrance tickets, food, and drinks are paid separately.
