Overview

In three hours, we will explore Samarkand’s five most important historical monuments:

1. The Gur-Emir Mausoleum – the final resting place of the great Timurid ruler Tamerlane. Its magnificent dome and opulent décor make it a true architectural gem.
2. Registan Square – the heart of Samarkand, surrounded by three madrasahs with beautiful mosaics and minarets. Here you will feel the grandeur and history of the city.
3. The Bibi-Khanym Mosque – one of the largest mosques in Central Asia, built on Tamerlane’s orders in honour of his wife. It is impressive for its scale and decorative details.
4. The Hazrat Khizr Mosque – a historic mosque with rich architecture and a special atmosphere of spirituality.
5. The Shah-i-Zinda Complex – an avenue of mausoleums with unique ceramic tiles, where members of the Timurid dynasty and the city’s prominent figures are buried.

During the tour, I will share with you interesting stories, legends, and facts about each place. At the end, I will tell you about the lives of the local people, the traditions, and cultural characteristics of Samarkand.
