Overview

A tram that defies time, early 20th-century architecture, handcrafted art, and a vibrant gastronomic scene await you in Santa Teresa. This charming neighborhood is home to museums, cultural centers, and a welcoming bohemian community.

Our journey begins with a scenic tram ride into the heart of Santa Teresa. From there, we’ll walk approximately 3 to 4 km, exploring its main attractions before descending the iconic Selarón Stairway in Lapa, the third most visited site in Rio. Depending on the pace, we can continue to the historic Lapa Aqueduct and/or the nearest metro station in Cinelândia.

Meeting point

Entry of Carioca Tram station

On arrival

The meeting point will be at the Entry of the Carioca Tram station close to the Carioca Metro station.

Things to note

If the tram service is not available for some reason or the queue to take the tram is too big, we can change the order of attractions going up using the Selaron stairs or cancel the trip.

The tickets for the tram are not included, so each one will have to purchase his/her own ticket. Today, it costs 20 Reais per person.
We will go to the heart of Santa Teresa, walk around 3 to 4 Km approximately to the main attractions, and visit the Selarón stairway. Depending on the pace, we can continue to the Lapa Aqueduct and/or the closest metro station in Cinelândia.

As we will walk quite a bit, small children may not be able to do it without the adult's aid. The surface will not be always flat, for the streets are made of cobblestone.

Take your sunblock, mosquito repellent, and some water to drink during the trip.
Remember, this is a tipping tour, so take some pocket money unless you can pay using PIX or tip using the App.
