Tour of Puebla Origins & Secret Tunnels
Overview
Start your adventure by walking through the the founding neighborhood of Puebla. We'll visit San Francisco, its former convent, its gardens, and its temple. In this temple, we'll learn a little about the life and work of San Sebastián of Aparicio, the traveling monk who pioneered roads in Puebla. We'll enter the heart of the neighborhood, where several historic buildings await us. We'll visit the Almoloya wash houses, a historic site. We'll then walk along Paseo San Francisco to the 5 de Mayo Tunnel, one of the nearly 480-meter-long underground tunnels hidden for centuries beneath Puebla's historic center. This will be an interactive and exciting way to learn the history of the iconic Battle of 5 de Mayo in 1862. Together we will cross the northern part of the city to the forts, where we will end our tour at Lake La Concordia, on the Loreto fort lookout.
