Overview

Welcome to Žižkov, a neighborhood defined by street art, independent culture, and a fierce spirit of rebellion. On this walk, we skip the generic tourist traps to explore the gritty, artistic side of Prague through the eyes of a local.

Our Route & Experience:

- The Starting Point. We begin at the hauntingly beautiful Olšany Cemetery, exploring its historic grounds, eerie architecture, and hidden stories.

- The Backstreets. We’ll weave through winding alleys, checking out incredible street art, local secrets, and hidden corners no regular guidebook will tell you about.

- The Finish Line: We’ll wrap up exactly how a local would - by grabbing a cold beer inside a vibrant arts and culture hub housed in a massive, converted Austro-Hungarian barracks.

The Stories You'll Hear:

- Art vs. Totalitarianism. Dive into the underground scene and hear about the brave artists, musicians, and writers who risked everything to defy oppressive totalitarian regimes.
- Bohemian Spirit: Discover why Žižkov once declared itself an independent republic and how it earned its reputation as Prague's wildest neighborhood.

On arrival

Exact Location: I will be standing right outside the main street-level entrance of the Atrium Flora Mall, close to the tram stops.

What to look for: Look for the guy holding a bright leopard-print umbrella!

Take Trams 5, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, or 26 instead, get off at the "Flora" stop, and you will see the mall entrance right there. Please allow an extra 5–10 minutes for your journey just in case!

Things to note

Please note that the Flora metro station is currently closed for works.
We will finish with a cold beer, so bring some cash/card in case you want a drink.
