Overview

Do you dare to walk through the Prague that survived Nazism and 40 years of communism?

The New Town isn’t the Prague you see on postcards. This is where the 20th-century Czech story unfolded: the Nazi occupation, the Soviet tanks of 1968, and the Velvet Revolution that toppled the regime without a single shot being fired.

Join our expert guides on a 2.5-hour tour of the places where it all happened.

What will we discover together?

• Wenceslas Square: This is where the Nazis marched, the tanks rolled in during 1968, and Jan Palach set himself on fire.
• Národní: where police charged the students on November 17, 1989, sparking the revolution.
• The Adria Palace: the theater from whose basement Havel orchestrated the fall of communism.
• St. Cyril and St. Methodius: This is where the men of Operation Anthropoid held out after killing Heydrich. The bullet holes are still visible in the wall.
• The Dancing House: Built on the site left vacant by the 1945 bombing.
• The Lucerna Galleries: Havel’s grandfather’s palace and its statue of St. Wenceslas on horseback, upside down.

And we’ll give you our best local recommendations!
