Medieval and Ribeira Tour
Overview of the tour in Porto
In our Medieval and Ribeira Tour, the traveler will immerse himself in the bowels of a UNESCO World Heritage city marked by the two walls that surrounded it, one Roman and the other medieval.
We will walk through narrow stairs to the heat of towers and bare stone walls, witnesses of the intrigues of times where the strength of the sword decided the destinies of many. The tour will run between the most picturesque squares and places of the medieval neighborhood of Porto until reaching the Ribeira area. This place is characterized by the multitude of colorful old houses that are so identifying with Porto, and that on their ground floor still have the stone docks where the boats that brought Port wine from the upper part of the Douro used to dock. The markets, churches, the Stock Exchange building or the Jewish quarter will tell us the history of this city until we reach the bridge that connects Porto with its neighbor Gaia. And if the only thing missing from all this is a castle, that's because you haven't looked closely, because on this tour we visit it.
