Over six years ago I started to explore the history of this island, and was amazed at how the people here overcame what can only be called a major biblical event, with a little bit of faith, to build what has been described as the Hawaii of Europe.
This island was also one of the important stop-offs during the age of discovery, then it was the Atlantic hub of the Jesuit religious empire, so there's a lot to see in the time that we spend together looking at this gorgeous neat city that has seen so much history.
