Overview
The meeting point is on Cathedral Square at the Max statue, the monument to King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria. From there, the tour takes you to atmospheric places in Passau: You will explore the cathedral square, walk through the colorful Höllgasse, experience the town hall square and view the executioner's house, a place of cultural significance.
The tour continues to the Innkai, where Passau's location on the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers is beautifully showcased. The tour then takes you to Residenzplatz, one of the city's most elegant squares, before you get to know St. Stephen's Cathedral, one of Passau's most important landmarks.
The tour is led by a historian (M.A.) and certified guide. Instead of a classic year-by-year tour, you can expect an entertaining mix of history, anecdotes, architecture, city life and local specialties. On arrival
The tour starts on the cathedral square at the Max statue, the monument to King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria. You will find the meeting point directly on the large square in front of St. Stephen's Cathedral, on the western side of the cathedral - the side with the two towers. The statue is clearly visible in the middle of the cathedral square. Your guide will be waiting there for the start of the tour. Please be at the meeting point a few minutes before the start so that the tour can start on time.
Things to note
Please wear comfortable shoes, as the tour takes you on foot through Passau's old town and some of the paths run over cobblestones. The tour also takes place in light rain, so please bring suitable clothing or an umbrella depending on the weather.
