Overview
Did you know there’s a part of Paris that feels like a small town and once served as a refuge for Spanish artists and creators?
We’ll begin our tour at the Montparnasse Tower, one of the neighborhood’s central hubs, whose history is as surprising as its height. From there, we’ll venture into the 14th arrondissement to Place de Catalogne to discover a much more intimate and lesser-known side of Paris.
Amid narrow alleys, hidden passageways, and bustling streets, we’ll follow in the footsteps of the great artistic effervescence that turned this neighborhood into one of the hearts of the 20th-century Parisian avant-garde. We’ll discover the presence of Spanish artists who found here a place of gathering, creation, and freedom, and we’ll also learn the stories of filmmakers like Agnès Varda and Jacques Demy, who were deeply connected to these streets.
We’ll continue through the shopping streets, past small shops and scenes of everyday life, until we reach Denfert-Rochereau, another of Paris’s major hubs and the gateway to the famous Catacombs.
A walk to discover a different side of Paris, exploring history, art, architecture, cinema, and French and Spanish culture.
