Overview
French people are most famous for two things: - We love baguettes
- We beheaded our king
In this tour, you will retrace the steps of Louis the XVI from beloved king to traitor, from paintings of a very elegant monarch to drawings of him as a pig sitting in his own filth, and from head of state to headless man.
We will start from the Conciergerie, which used to be the seat of the revolutionary tribunal where Marie-Antoinette, the queen of Louis XVI, was tried. Then we'll go to the Louvres, a former royal palace, to give you more context about Louis XVI’s early life and his role during the beginning of the Revolution.
The next step will bring us to the Tuileries, where Louis XVI and his family lived for most of the Revolution. We will end the tour at the "Place de la Concorde" where Louis XVI was beheaded by the famous guillotine.
My name is Robin, and I am a public historian. I have loved history since I was a kid, and I love sharing it with people in a fun way even more. Come and join me!
