Overview
On this tour of the Île de la Cité we will look at Paris through different eyes, delving into the history and origins of the Ville Lumière. After meeting next to the statue of Charlemagne, in front of Notre-Dame, our walk will begin.
The Paris we currently know is in fact very different from the one we are going to explore: the island, a small natural jewel in the heart of the Seine, forms the oldest part of the urban center.
We will begin our journey by heading toward Place Louis Lépine, where we will focus on the neighborhood's most important buildings, such as the Hôtel-Dieu and the Tribunal de Commerce. It will then only take a few steps to arrive in front of the Sainte-Chapelle, a true architectural emblem of the radiant Gothic style.
We will then discover the history of the oldest public clock in Paris on the towers of the Conciergerie, and after a pleasant stop among the colors and scents of the Marché aux Fleurs, we will continue walking along the Seine, leaving room for more anecdotes and curiosities.
We will end our promenade there where it all began, in front of the queen of Paris: the Notre-Dame cathedral!
