Amélie & the Art of Romanticising Paris Free Tour
Overview
On this walking tour, we visit key places from the film including Café des Deux Moulins, the Marché de la Butte grocery store, Abbesses métro station, Square Louise Michel, Rue Saint-Vincent, and other locations featured in Amélie. At each stop, we connect the film to the real places today and the role they play in the neighbourhood.
As we walk, you’ll also discover how Montmartre grew from an independent village into one of Paris’s most distinctive areas, known for its artistic and literary past. This history helped shape the atmosphere that inspired Amélie.
The tour combines film, local history and storytelling, and is designed for fans of Amélie as well as curious travellers who want to experience Montmartre beyond its most familiar image, through its streets, stories and everyday character.
This activity includes:
- Place des Abbesses
- Square Louise Michel
- Saint-Vincent Cemetery
- Café des Deux Moulins
On arrival
The meeting point can be found outside Blanche metro station (Line 2), at street level, opposite the Moulin Rouge. I will be waiting outside the station entrance holding a red and white polka dot umbrella.
Things to note
Montmartre is beautiful, but it is also one of the hilliest neighbourhoods in Paris. This tour includes a fair amount of walking, several flights of steps, and some steep streets, so comfortable shoes are essential.
Unfortunately, the route is not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility. Please also bring water and dress for the weather, as we will be outdoors throughout the tour.
