Overview

This trip will take you high into the mountains above magnificent Lake Atitlan and will feature the Solola market, small farms, and Mayan villages. Drive through maize and vegetable fields, coffee fields, old-growth forest, and into the cloud forest. Explore Solola and wonder at the local market and beautiful town square. The biggest market days are Tuesday & Friday, but it is open every day.

The day will begin in Panajachel when you’ll meet your English-speaking guide and start the incredible adventure. You drive along ancient roadways that have been used by the Kachekel Maya for centuries. You will see villagers and their daily life rituals, encounter farmers tending their maize and coffee fields, and capture some of the most magnificent landscapes in the world.

Visit the indigenous market of Guatemala – the captivating Solola market which is a blaze of color from the textiles, flowers, and produce. Several Mayan tribes travel to this market each day to trade goods such as fruits, vegetables, fish, flowers, handicrafts, textiles, and live animals.
