Overview
Discover the charms of Palermo's historic center with an expert guide who will take you on a journey through history, art and tradition. Admire extraordinary monuments such as the Teatro Massimo and the Cathedral before immersing yourself in the lively local markets in search of authentic Sicilian delicacies.
The tour begins with a visit to one of Palermo's most striking squares, the Church of Sant'Ignazio, with its archaeological museum, one of the most important in Italy. We will continue to the grandiose Teatro Massimo, the largest opera house in Italy, a symbol of Belle Epoque Palermo and the Florio family. Along the way, I will tell you about myths and legends of Sicily, such as the mysterious sect of the Beati Paoli and stories related to Santa Rosalia. We will take a stroll through the bustling Capo market, of Arab origin.
Here you will sample some of Palermo's delicacies, from the best street food to Sicilian sweets. We will end the tour with the majestic Palermo Cathedral, a UNESCO site dating from the early 12th century, once a pagan temple and later a mosque. Inside are the tombs of kings and emperors and the spectacular sundial.
