Overview
Discover the story of Omaha - a city shaped by Native cultures, the Missouri River, railroads, industry, and innovation. Join us for a walking tour through downtown Omaha and hear the history, landmarks, and culture that make this city one of the Midwest’s most surprising destinations.
This tour covers approximately 2 hours and 2.5 miles at a comfortable pace. Bring water and comfortable walking shoes. Halfway through, we will take a short break at a local coffee shop with public restrooms.
We begin at the Omaha Visitors Center, explore the riverfront parks, walk through the Capitol District, and finish in the heart of the Old Market.
Discover Omaha’s Native American heritage, railroad legacy, stockyards history, art, culture, people, and industries that shaped the city.
Sports fans will enjoy views of Charles Schwab Field, home of the College World Series, and CHI Health Center Omaha, where sporting events bring the city to life.
Whether you are visiting for the first time or looking to better understand your city, this tour is the perfect introduction to Omaha’s past, present, and future.
