Overview

Power, protest, and progress is a free walking tour of Nairobi CBD designed for curious travelers who want more than just landmarks. I’m Kerrie, a policy nerd and local guide, and I’ll walk you through the city I call home with personal stories, history, and a lot of heart.

We start at Jeevanjee Gardens, the birthplace of Nairobi’s protests and petitions. From there, we walk through University Way to talk about student movements, then start walking downwards, diving into the city market where the hustle of daily Nairobi life is on full display. You’ll see Jamia Mosque and McMillan Library side by side, a perfect snapshot of faith and education in Kenya.

We’ll stroll down Kenyatta Avenue, the spine of power, past the GPO, Nairobi Gallery, banks, and government offices. I’ll break down how Kenya works, from colonialism to democracy.
We proceed to City Square with views of Parliament, City Hall, and KICC, and for a final conversation about resilience, loss, healing, and how Nairobi keeps rebuilding after a bomb blast.

This tour is about 3 kilometers and 3 hours. We walk, we talk, we sit in green spaces. Expect honest conversations about politics, faith, trade, and everyday life.
