Musanze Free Tour: Market, Caves, Mpenge Trails & Isaac Waterfall
Overview
I'm Joshua. Born in Musanze. RDB certified. I run Misozi Safari Tour Guides. And now I am going to be with you in this tour. This is not a bus tour. We walk 2.5 hours. We talk to people.
We do 4 stops:
1. Musanze Market
Real local market. Where people Buy food, fruit, and daily stuff. You can taste passion fruit. Learn 3 Kinyarwanda words and See how Musanze people shop.
2. Musanze Caves
They are 2km of lava tunnels under Volcanoes National Park. Dark, cold, with bats.
3. Mpenge Community Trails
Walk through farms and meet families making local activities like making bricks etc. This is community tourism. Your tip helps them and us.
4. Isaac Waterfall
This takes 6 minutes walk in the small forest getting fresh air and bird’s sounds. Small waterfall and quiet spot for photos.

On arrival
Meeting point: Main entrance of Muhabura Hotel.
How to find me:
Come to Muhabura Hotel in Musanze town center. I will be standing at the main entrance wearing a pale yellow Misozi Safari shirt.
Muhabura Hotel is well known. Any moto or taxi can take you there.
If you get lost, call or message me. I will send you my number after booking.
Please arrive 5 minutes early so we can start on time.
From Muhabura Hotel we will walk 8 minutes to Musanze Market to start the tour.
Things to note
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes. We walk the whole time.
What to bring: comfortable walking shoes. Water. Light jacket for the caves, it gets cold. Small cash for fruit, snacks, or tips.
Good to know: this is a free tour. You book for free. At the end, tip what you think it was worth.
We visit real homes, farms, and the market. Please be respectful. Ask before taking photos of people.
How can the tour be free?
Our concept is simple — there is no set price. Instead, you tip your guide at the end of the tour whatever amount feels right to you. Typically, guests give between $10 to €50, depending on their satisfaction and budget.
Most guides accept cash or card payments, or you can do it via our app.
Cancellation policy
You are free to cancel a booking anytime. We kindly remind you to cancel bookings you cannot arrive for. Being reported as absent decreases your customer level points and the benefits you can enjoy.
