Free Guided Tour of Munich's City Center & English Garden with a Local Guide
Overview
Discover Munich with a local guide who was born and raised in the city. On this free tour in Spanish, we’ll explore the historic center, and—unlike most tours—we’ll also visit the English Garden, one of the largest urban parks in the world.
We’ll see iconic landmarks such as Marienplatz, the Frauenkirche, the Hofbräuhaus, the Royal Residence, and Odeonsplatz, while learning about Munich’s history, its Bavarian traditions, and fun facts about Oktoberfest.
Then we’ll cross the Hofgarten to reach the English Garden, where we’ll see the Eisbach Canal and the famous surf wave—one of the city’s most surprising sights.
During the tour, I’ll share dining recommendations, my favorite spots, and tips for enjoying Munich like a true local.
With over 8 years of experience as a guide, my goal is to offer you a personal, authentic, and unique experience.

On arrival
Meeting point/tour starting point at Marienplatz (subway station/U- and S-Bahn), in front of the New Gothic Town Hall at "Wurmeck" (with a view of the New Town Hall, at the far left end of Weinstrasse, i.e., the southwest corner).
If you see a dragon on the corner of City Hall, you’ll know you’re in the right place :)
How to recognize the tour guide?
A blond guide will be waiting for you with a blue-and-white checkered umbrella and a sign that says “Free Local Bavarian Tour in Spanish.”
Things to note
My name is Korbi, I'm 33 years old, and I was born and raised in Munich. I’ve spent most of my life here and have had the pleasure of experiencing many local events, such as working for many years at the world’s largest beer festival, Oktoberfest, and encountering countless funny situations around the city.
After spending a year abroad in Córdoba, Spain, I came to appreciate my hometown even more. In 2017, I began offering tours in both English and German, and I quickly realized how much I enjoy showing Munich to people from all over the world. After completing a training seminar and exam with the city’s oldest tour guide company, I have continued to work with them as a freelance guide. I lead a wide variety of private and fixed-price guided tours, including those focused on the city’s history, culinary delights at the market, brewery tours, and, most recently, street art.
While studying Renewable Energy Management in the nearby town of Weihenstephan, I wanted to find a way to combine my passion for guiding tours with my commitment to sustainable development. This led me to pursue a master’s degree in Environmental Education in Cádiz during the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In August 2023, I returned to Munich and began working as a freelance environmental educator for SWM, the city’s leading infrastructure company. I focus on projects with schools that promote sustainable development, covering essential topics such as water, energy, and heating.
I’m very happy to offer free guided tours in English and Spanish, where I share the history of Munich and its innovative developments in a captivating and engaging way. Munich holds an important place in history as the city where Hitler and the Nazi Party rose to power before the start of World War II. This makes it a significant place for a more sustainable and socially responsible future.
