Sailing Experience in Mombasa
Overview
We teach according to standards set by international sailing federations and associations:
Level 1 (Beginners)
Level 2 (Double-handed)
Level 3 (Advanced, including spinnaker)
Book your course while on holiday, or join one of our residential courses (3–4 days) and stay onsite in our bunk rooms—meals and accommodation included.
Keep an eye out for our school holiday Sail Training Camps; they’re very popular!
Sailing has countless benefits:
– Boosts cardiovascular fitness
– Improves agility and flexibility
– Reduces stress (if you start worrying while sailing, you’ll likely capsize!)
– Clean, fresh sea air
– Enhances focus and spatial awareness
This activity includes:
- Mombasa Yacht Club
On arrival
The meeting point is at the Mombasa Yacht Club House, which can be found on Google Maps.
Training schedules are set by the student and may be spread over days, weeks, or even months.
Each level includes 12–16 hours of training, followed by a practical test to ensure the student meets the required standards.
It is recommended that students commit to completing the course in the shortest time possible.
Courses extending beyond 90 days may be subject to review and could incur additional costs.
Things to note
Learning to sail in dinghies is wet and intensive; students need to come with their sailing clothes and shoes that can get wet.
Kilindini Harbour is tidal, so training times are influenced by tide heights.
