Overview

Rooted in resilience, we explore some of the chapters and eras of the city that are perhaps not on the front page of every city summary, instead slightly obscured or hidden behind other, more well-known events in Melbourne's history.

Indigenous resilience, street art rebellion & Melbourne's dark past of opium trade transitioning into the modern-day Chinatown are all key to the flourishing of this tale of resistance into what Melbourne is today.

We also look into some of the extravagant buildings that still stand today unfinished, and some have since been demolished through short-sightedness. Touching on the forgotten people, erased communities, political tension, protests, and rebellion, we display the contrast between the amazing new ‘Marvellous Melbourne’ and what was hidden beneath!

Also covering a general overview of Melbourne's modern history, we provide an alternative angle alongside the commonly known facts and information to add a different element to Melbourne's famous Central Business District.
