Overview

Welcome to Mazara del Vallo, a city that looks like no other place in Sicily. Here we will not take a classic boring guided tour, but experience an open-air narrative.

Our journey will begin in the elegant heart of the city, among light stone squares that look like living rooms, and then slip almost without realizing it into another world. We will plunge into the labyrinth of the Kasbah, the old Arab quarter, where the streets become less than a meter narrow and the walls of the houses speak through the bright colors of the ceramics and murals. As we walk through these blind alleys, I will tell you how Tunisian and Sicilian cultures have managed to merge in unique harmony, creating a community where integration is a daily reality.

But Mazara is above all a city of sea and sailors. Moving toward the canal port, I will take you back in time to the night when the nets of a local fishing boat snatched from the depths one of the wonders of world archaeology: the Dancing Satyr. I will tell you the crazy story of its discovery, a romantic affair that combines the toil of fishermen with the fascination of ancient Greece.
