Overview
Experience Matera at its most atmospheric time of the day on a relaxed sunset bus tour, designed to offer panoramic views without long walks. Travelling comfortably by bus, you will move between the historic center, scenic viewpoints, and lesser-known districts, with short stops to get off, take photos, and better understand the city’s unique landscape.
The tour begins in central Matera with a panoramic stop overlooking the Sassi and an introduction to the city’s urban evolution. The route then gradually leaves the center, passing through Piccianello, the first residential district developed after the evacuation of the Sassi.
A highlight of the experience is the visit to the La Palomba area, including the Sculpture Park and the Rock Church of Santa Maria della Palomba, often called the “Cathedral of Matera’s Rock Churches.”
The tour ends in the Agna le Piane district with a panoramic sunset view over the Gravina Canyon, before returning to the starting point.
