Overview
LGBT+ Manchester Walking Tour... "How Did Manchester Get So Bloody Queer?" Explore Manchester’s world-famous Gay Village with queer historian Josh and uncover how this city became a queer capital.
We’ll wind through monuments, memorials, street art and legendary pubs, hearing stories of LGBT+ Mancunians from underground Victorian drag balls and ‘secret’ gay languages to today’s activists and local RuPaul stars. Expect a mix of history, gossip, politics and camp.
Josh is a native Mancunian with an MA in LGBT+ history, founder of 'Free Manchester Walking Tours' and an experienced oral historian. At the end, he shares tailored insider tips for queer bars, clubs, cafes and things to do.

Meeting point: ‘Monument to Vimto’ (giant purple bottle) M1 3BU
Duration? 1.5–2 hours
Price: £15 per person, pay on arrival (cash or card).
Please arrive a few minutes early and dress for Manchester weather.
