How to Reach the Meeting Point – Descent of the Ganges, Mahabalipuram
The meeting point is at the entrance of the magnificent rock relief Descent of the Ganges (Arjuna’s Penance) in Mahabalipuram.
Exact Location:
Descent of the Ganges. Located on East Raja Street, opposite the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) ticket counter.
From Chennai (Approx. 1.5 Hours – 55 km)
Take East Coast Road (ECR) towards Mahabalipuram.
Enter Mahabalipuram town.
Follow the signboards to “Shore Temple / Monuments.”
Park near the main monument parking area.
Walk 2–3 minutes to reach the Descent of the Ganges site.
By Bus:
Take a bus from Chennai (Koyambedu or Thiruvanmiyur) towards Mahabalipuram.
Get down at Mahabalipuram Bus Stand.
From the bus stand, it’s a 5-minute walk to the monument.
By Taxi / Auto:
Tell the driver: “Descent of the Ganges monument entrance” or “Arjuna’s Penance meeting point.”
It is one of the most famous landmarks in town, so drivers are very familiar with it.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the tour start time.
Your guide will be waiting near the main entrance gate, holding a name board.
