Overview of the tour in Kandy

This tour takes you through the Hanthana Tea Plantation and allows you to learn more about the history of Tea in Sri Lanka. Get a chance to visit the Ceylon Tea Museum with its tea-related artefacts. Cycle through Hanthana Tea Estate and watch the tea plucker at work. Enjoy marvellous views of the landscape as you pass by. An incredible journey to remember.

At the entrance of the Ceylon Tea Museum, located in Kandy you will be joined by an experienced cycling guide who will explain the attractions during the tour. Mountain bikes and helmets, as well as a bottle of water for the ride, will be waiting for you at the startup point. You will also have an insurance cover of up to Rs500,000 for this tour.

You'll start your trip with the Ceylon Tea Museum which museum was founded in the abandoned Hantana Tea Factory built-in 1925.
You can finish off with a cup of hot fresh tea sold in the Tea Cafe.

After this, you will embark on your bikes down a trail that winds through the Hantana Tea Plantations. The trail will be of average difficulty and will mostly be a gravel trail with no proper road.

You will be able to see various types of tea that your guide will help you identify.

On arrival

Your tour will start at 8:30 am at the entrance of the Ceylon Tea museum, located in Kandy.

Things to note

- Before starting your ride you will explore the Ceylon Tea Museum which is your startup point. You will have to pay for your ticket as it isn't included in your tour package.
- The entire trail will be approximately 55 km and will take you four to five hours to traverse, including the time you spent at the museum.
