Overview
The tour begins with a visit to the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the very few living forts in the world. Built in 1156 AD by Rawal Jaisal, the fort rises dramatically from the desert in golden sandstone, giving Jaisalmer its nickname, the “Golden City.” Inside the fort, you will walk through narrow winding lanes lined with traditional houses, handicraft shops, and small cafés. The visit includes the beautifully carved Jain Temples, dedicated to various Tirthankaras, and the impressive Raj Mahal (Royal Palace), which showcases royal artifacts, balconies, and panoramic views of the city.
After exploring the fort, the tour continues to the stunning Patwon Ki Haveli, the largest and most elaborate haveli in Jaisalmer. This cluster of five mansions is famous for its detailed jharokhas (balconies), mirror work, and intricate stone carvings that reflect the wealth and artistry of the 19th-century merchant families.
Next, visit Nathmal Ki Haveli, known for its unique architecture built by two brothers who worked on different sides of the structure.
