Boğaziçi (Bosphorus) University is the highest-ranking research institution in Türkiye, admitting only 0.5% of nearly 3 million students who take the university entrance exam annually. It features breathtaking views of the city from a vast green campus with Neo-Grec-style buildings.
We’ll explore the vibrant atmosphere of the South Campus and enjoy unique views of the Bosphorus Strait at its narrowest point, between the Rumeli Fortress and the Anadolu Fortress.
Most importantly, the view speaks for itself. The university is located above Aşiyan, where Turkish poet Tevfik Fikret wrote much of his poetry—an inspiring setting you'll understand once you see it.
In 2021, Boğaziçi made headlines when the formal election process for appointing its rector was bypassed by the Turkish President, leading to massive protests by students and faculty that lasted over 500 days. You’ll learn about the university's historical character and get a slice-of-life perspective on Istanbul.
Since then, security measures have tightened, and outside visitors are generally not allowed, but we’ll arrange an exception for you.
