Overview
Discover the history, culture, and traditions of Humahuaca on this immersive 45 minutes free walking tour through one of the most iconic towns of northern Argentina. Located in the heart of the spectacular Quebrada de Humahuaca, a cultural landscape recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Humahuaca has been an important crossroads of cultures, trade, and traditions for more than 10,000 years.
During this guided walk, we will explore the historic center while learning about the indigenous cultures that originally inhabited the region, the influence of the Inca Empire, and the arrival of the Spanish during colonial times. You will hear stories about the ancient trade routes that connected the Andes and understand why this valley became such an important corridor for communication and commerce in South America.
Our tour will take us to some of the most emblematic landmarks of the town, including the impressive Monumento a los Heroes de la Independencia, a tribute to the local fighters who played a key role during Argentina's wars of Independence, the Cabildo, and we can go to see Peñas Blancas if you want.
