Overview
We begin our walk through the history of Hamburg's Speicherstadt at the birthplace and nursery of the Port of Hamburg,
We take a critical look at the founding charter of our port and discover one or two contradictions.
We will then continue our tour in the direction of the Elbphilharmonie and admire the great history of the place where this building stands today. We will see how the port developed during industrialization in the 19th century and how the movement of goods was revolutionized in the 20th century.
We will immerse ourselves in the Speicherstadt, the red brick canyons and the history of its workers and employers, find out what Westphalia has to do with Hamburg and why workers lived in a castle there.
We find out what shipmasters, bargemen, winchmen and coffee pickers actually did and why there are coffee barons and Persians in Hamburg.
Finally, you can enjoy the best view of the Speicherstadt over a coffee.

- We will meet next to the harbor police station No 2 at Kehrwiederspitze, a few minutes walk from the Baumwall subway station (Elbphilharmonie)
- You can recognize our tour guides by the orange umbrella at the meeting point.
