Walking Tour of the Historic Centre of Granada, Nicaragua

This engaging tour takes you beyond the typical sightseeing experience, with stops at the central square, Granada Cathedral, the local market, a traditional hammock workshop, historic churches, the La Merced viewpoint with panoramic city views, and the La Pólvora fortress, along with other fascinating places that showcase the character and charm of Granada.

On arrival
We’ll start at Granada’s Central Square, then visit Independence Square and Granada Cathedral; we’ll head to the local market to sample the city’s traditional drinks and dishes, stroll through the colourful streets, get a taste of local life, visit a hammock factory and the ‘Tío Antonio’ community centre, then head to the viewing platform near La Merced Church to admire the panoramic view of the city, and our final stop will be Salteva Square with its park and church — it was in this complex that the indigenous inhabitants lived before the Spanish conquest; this is the oldest part of the city.

Entry to all the sites is free, except for a visit to La Merced Tower and the viewpoint, and any food or drink you might wish to enjoy.
