Overview
Gjirokastër Free Walking Tour
Join our 2-hour walking tour led by certified local guides and discover the magical stone city of Gjirokastër. During the walk, we’ll explore the most fascinating areas of the city, including the historic Bazaar and neighborhoods showcasing stunning Gjirokastra-style architecture. In the bazaar area we will visit also the Obelisc monument and the Mosque of the bazzar.
We'll pass by the traditional streets of the city in the area where are located the most beautiful houses of Gjirokaster style, the famous 300 years old Skenduli Family House, the former home of dictator Enver Hoxha (Ethnographic Museum), and the birthplace of Albania’s most renowned writer, Ismail Kadare. We also walk through the castle surroundings and the tour ends near there but we don’t enter the castle itself, as there's an entrance fee. This way, you can decide whether to visit it on your own and spent as much time as you want there if you go. Along the way, we’ll stop at the best panoramic viewpoints where you’ll have the chance to enjoy and capture breathtaking views of the city as well. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the beauty, history, and stories of our city :)
