Overview
Discover the magic of Ghent on this captivating city walk through its most iconic and surprising locations.
We begin at St. Michael’s Bridge, the perfect panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Korenlei, Gravensteen, and Ghent’s famous three towers.
At the Groentenmarkt, uncover the playful “War of the Noses” and the story of Tierenteyn mustard, before learning how Neuhaus helped invent the world-famous Belgian praline.
We continue to the imposing Gravensteen and Veerleplein, where medieval power meets contemporary art with the striking installation Ai Nati Oggi (“For Those Born Today”).
On the historic Vrijdagmarkt, once the political heart of the city, you’ll discover stories of rebellion, trade, and public life.
Then explore the colorful origins of Ghent’s vibrant Graffitistraatje, where modern creativity transforms ancient walls.
Our walk concludes at the elegant Hotel d'Hane-Steenhuyse, where you will learn about the Treaty of Ghent — a moment that shaped international history as the USA's independence started right here in Ghent!
Join me for a journey through medieval grandeur, culinary heritage, street art, and world-changing events — all in the heart of beautiful Ghent.
