Overview of the tour in Freiburg

This multi-themed historic walk through Freiburg's Old City District introduces you to the most important landmarks in Freiburg´s nearly year 900+ year history!

Our journey begins at the Old Rathaus and Rathausplatz. From here we proceed to the Freiburg Münster, the Farmers´ Market and Münsterplatz viewing several of Freiburg´s most important buildings. Later, we visit one of Freiburg´s most historic neighborhoods and it´s medieval city gates. Along the way we encounter amazing examples of Renaissance and Gothic architecture. We mix in tranquil settings and examples of the city´s modern development. The Gewerbe Canal in Little Venice is a peaceful setting amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life. The home-brewed beers at Hausbrauerei Feierling are sure to please even the most discerning tastes. All yours for the enjoyment!

On arrival

The meeting point is BETWEEN the red Old Rathaus (Altes Rathaus) and New Rathaus (Neues Rathaus) on Rathausplatz. The Old Rathaus also has the tourist information office on the ground floor. I arrive 10 minutes before the start time. I am carrying a dark blue backpack.

- Bottled water, food, and transportation are not included.
- No entry tickets or hidden costs.
- Tours of 3 or fewer may be able to enter the Cathedral.
