Overview
At the appointed time we will meet at the Plaza de Alfonso X el Sabio, where we will start this free tour of El Puerto, one of the most famous destinations in the province of Cadiz.
We will start next to the Castillo de San Marcos, a medieval fortress that will allow us to interpret the city looking towards the Guadalete River as an ancient commercial corridor.
Next to it is the Mapamundi of Juan de la Cosa, the first to include the New World, key in the history of Spain.
We will continue walking towards the Plaza del Polvorista, where we will see why it is called the City of the Hundred Palace Houses, as we will be surrounded by houses of shippers to the Indies. Afterwards, we will approach the House of Pedro Muñoz Seca to talk about theater and satire.
Next stop? The Rafael Alberti Foundation, where we will talk about literature and the avant-garde of El Puerto de Santa María. Later on, the Priory Church will impose its beauty and stylistic evolution on us.
Then we will pass by the Mercado de Abastos, an archive of daily life between regional products and tradition.
We will close our free tour at the Town Hall, in the Isaac Peral square. There we will say goodbye after two hours together.
