Overview
Hello, my name is Katija, and I’m a local tour guide. My family has lived in Dubrovnik since the 18th century. I’ll tell you about the history, as well as the details my grandparents shared with me about life in the city of Ragusa/Dubrovnik from its beginnings to the present day. I’ll also share how I survived the 1991 war with my family in Dubrovnik while the city was being bombed.
1. The tour stops at Ploče Gate, a short way into the Plaza de Armas, in front of the Revelin Fortress.
2. Stop in front of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
3. Stop in front of the Rector’s Palace.
4. Stop at Luza Square—Sponza Palace (the former Customs House), the city’s clock tower, and the Church of St. Blaise, the city’s patron saint. We’ll walk down the city’s longest street, Stradun.
5. Passing through “od Puča” Street, we’ll reach the site of the 15th-century children’s orphanage.
6. The next stop is in front of the Great Onofrio Fountain and the Franciscan Monastery, home to one of Europe’s oldest pharmacies, which also marks the end of the tour.
